Pentatonix hits No. 1 on Billboard 200 with self-titled album

According to entertainment weekly; Pentatonix just made history. The a capella group landed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, marking the fivesome’s first-ever No. 1 album, and the first time an a capella group has topped the all-encompassing albums chart.

The Grammy award-winning group’s self-titled album dropped Oct. 16 and features their first complete set of original songs, save for a cover of Shai’s “If I Ever Fall in Love.” The record’s lead single, “Can’t Sleep Love,” is Pentatonix’s first track to become a chart hit aside from selections from their Christmas album, That’s Christmas to Me.
With the best opening week of all four of their studio albums, Pentatonix placed ahead of Demi Lovato’s Confident and took the lead spot on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart, hitting 88,000 in pure album sales.
“I cannot BELIEVE it!,” Pentatonix’s Mitch Grassi tweeted Monday. “Thank you to everyone who bought the album!!”
