Police Department Warns About Candy-like Ecstasy Tablets

Police in Jackson, Mississippi are warning parents about Ecstasy – that looks like candy.
“If your kids get these for Halloween candy, they ARE NOT CANDY,” the police posted on Facebook. “They are the new shapes of Ecstasy and can kill kids through overdoses!!!”

The Ecstasy looks just like candy. The pieces are shaped like dice, skulls and Superman’s logo. “When it doubt, throw it out,” police said.

The candy does exist, according to Snopes.com, however it’s not new.
Parents should be careful and check their children’s candy. Here are tips from the Food and Drug Administration:
  • Children shouldn’t snack on candy while trick-or-treating. They should wait until you’ve inspected their candy.
  • Kids should not accept candy that isn’t commercially wrapped.
  • Check candy packaging for signs of tampering.
