2 Year Old Girl Dies After Swallowing A Button Battery

A TODDLER died in hospital after her insides were burned by the tiny battery she unknowingly swallowed.
Tragic Brianna Florer from Oklahoma died in hospital on Boxing Day after she swallowed a small push battery at some point over the previous week.

Her distraught grandfather, Kent Vice, told Oklahoma newspaper Tulsa World: “On Saturday she was fine. It was a perfect Christmas.”
But the two-year-old was at her grandparent’s house in Oklahoma when her skin turned blue and she began throwing up blood.
Brianna was rushed to hospital but it was too late for doctors to save her.

Her grandfather said: “They operated on her for two and a half hours, but they couldn’t stop the bleeding.

“They believed the battery (acid) ate through to her carotid artery by way of her esophagus. We had no idea when she swallowed it.”

Mr Vice also said he wanted to “keep [button batteries] out of houses. They are dangerous.”
