FIREMEN were called to rescue two window cleaners who were left
dangling nearly 1000ft up a skyscraper yesterday because a cable on
their rig snapped.
The two cleaners had been washing down windows
on the 71st floor of the 75 floor office tower – that stands at over
1000ft – when a motor stopped working.
The washers then called for help at 10.40am local time but a cable
supporting the scaffolding on one side snapped, leaving them stranded
just four floors from the top.
They were left dangling from the JPMorgan Chase Tower in Houston, USA
for over 40 minutes with their rig listing at a 45 degree angle over the
sheer drop.
Firemen then reached the building and hauled them off the precarious rig into safety by cutting out one of the large windows.
Despite
their dizzying ordeal being stranded up Texas’ tallest building, also
one one of the highest in the country, neither of the two men reported
any injuries.
