For those of you who want it all, behold: the turkey cake. It’s a sweet
creation that’s baked, carved, painted and dressed to resemble the star
of the Thanksgiving dinner table. It looks so much like a turkey that
you may do a double take.
Yolanda Gampp, the novelty cake decorator behind the delicious-looking
cake, told ABC News that she’s always been drawn to creating cakes that
resemble food or other inedible items. Her Instagram account
features images of her cake that look like a hamburger, an ice cream
cone, a baseball, a pizza, a watermelon, nachos and a “Walking
Dead”-inspired brain using red velvet cake and jam.
“Whenever I make a cake that looks like a food item, especially if it’s
savory ... it really plays tricks on your mind,” she said.
Gampp, a Torontonian who has appeared on the Food Network Canada,
trained as a chef before turning to baking and decorating cakes for a
living. After she started posting cake decorating videos online earlier
this year, her YouTube channel became so popular that she now shoots weekly videos for the channel full time.
“I’m just thrilled to share my work with the world,” she said, adding
that receiving encouraging comments from viewers all over the world and
to be able to inspire others to try some of her creations is “so
amazing.”
