Man's Body Found Wrapped Up And Buried In His Own Back Garden

A MURDER probe has been launched after a man’s body was found wrapped up and partially buried in the back garden of his home.

Victim Michal Rejmer, 38 — originally from Poland — is believed to have vanished before New Year's Eve.

He was working in McDonald’s in the Castletroy area of Limerick, Ireland, and had been living in the city for some time.

He was reported missing on January 6.

Friends and relatives launched searches and a poster campaign was started across his neighbourhood.
Their posters said he was last seen leaving work in the fast food restaurant on December 30, 2015, at 8.40pm.

Pals and relatives got the news they were dreading at 3pm yesterday when gardai found a body in the back garden of his own home in The Pines, a cul de sac in the Briairfield estate.

The location of the house is just a short distance from the McDonald’s where Michal worked.

It is now feared by investigators that he was murdered and his killer tried to dispose of the body.

It is also believed that there were some injuries to the body — however, this has not been confirmed.

Officers sealed off the house for a forensic examination yesterday and two people were “assisting gardai with their enquiries”, no arrests have been made.

The State pathologist is expected to carry out a post mortem on the man’s remains to determine the cause of death. Friends and colleagues of Michal were in deep shock last night.

He was a keen sportsman and had an interest in athletics — he had recently competed in the Great Limerick run.

Michal was originally from Radom in central Poland but moved to Ireland for work.

His pal Andrzej Kanios, who is living in Limerick, posted on his Facebook page: “Thanks to everyone that has helped throughout the last few days.
“Michal has been found, unfortunately not the way we all hoped and expected. RIP to Michal we will miss you.”

Superintendent Derek Smart said a family liaison officer has been appointed to help the family of the dead man.

He said: “The person we have found hasn’t been identified but we are seeking the public’s assistance into how this person came to be there.
“Again the appeal is that anyone in the Briairfield area in Castletroy since the 30th of December to last night or this morning and may have seen something unusual, heard something unusual or may have any information at all as to how a person came to be in the backyard of the house in Briairfield we would appeal for them to come forward.

“We appeal for them to make contact on 1800 666 111, that number is on the back of all our patrol cars, or at Henry Street 061-212400.”

A local source told the Irish Sun yesterday: “Everyone here is shocked to think that the poor man was dumped like that in the back garden of the house.

“There’s a big Polish community here in Limerick and a lot of them, as well as Irish people, went out searching for him since he disappeared.

“He was interested in running and people would see him out running and training — people that knew him said he was a nice quiet man who did no harm to anyone.

“There was a fella found guilty of a double murder a few years ago who lived in the area but there has never been anything like this here.”
