Three Young Schoolboys 'Boiled To Death' After Falling In Scorching Hot Sewer

THREE young schoolboys have been "boiled to death" after falling into a scorching hot sewer.

The eight-year-olds, named as Daniil Slisarenko, Alexander Sanko and Daniil Viik, died after one fell into the 80C underground conduit and the other two fell in trying to rescue their friend.

It is reported the tragedy took place as a hole in the sewer of their school grounds in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, was not repaired soon enough.

Local reports claim the hole was covered with just cardboard after wooden decking covering the sewer broke, leaving a two-and-a-half metre gap.

Shocking images show the young boys' bodies in black bags laid next to a mountain of snow and the deadly sewer.

Yevgeny Sivayev, a local newspaper publisher, said: "It is no exaggeration to say that the city is crying. Such grief we have not had before.

"It is impossible to look at children - their bodies are packed in bags."
A police source said: "The three boys disappeared on Thursday afternoon. They had left the school but had not come home.

"Police, volunteers and Emergencies Ministry employees had started searching for them.

"The boys' bodies were found in the open hatch of a hot sewer located near the school building."

It is unclear why the boys were on school grounds, as all places of education were supposed to be closed today.

City mayor Dmitry Zaitsev will pay for the youngsters' funerals.

A criminal probe has been launched into suspected negligence into a failure to respond to warnings from locals that the sewer was not safe.
