What The Colour Of Your Urine Could Reveal About Your Health

OUR urine has been known as a useful tool of diagnosis since the earliest days of medicine.
It's colour, density and smell can reveal a lot about your health.
Experts told LittleThings what the different colours means.
Here are some of the things you can tell from the colour of your pee:

Transparent

You can actually drink too much water - believe it or not.
Drinking water to stay hydrated is good, but don't overdo it to the point that your urine becomes completely transparent.

Amber or honey coloured

This colour says you're thirsty - so drink some water.
Amber or honey is often the colour you see first thing in the morning, as the kidneys have been working overnight.

Syrup or brown coloured

Eaten too much fava beans, rhubarb, or aloe?
If not, you're severely dehydrated or it could be a sign of liver or kidney disease.

Pink to reddish

Have you eaten beetroots, blueberries or rhubarb recently?
If not, you may have blood in your urine or it could be a sign of a whole lot of other serious problems such as kidney disease, urinary tract infections.

Orange

You may not be drinking enough water or it could be just food dye you've used.
If not, best to contact your doctor as it could be a liver or bile duct condition.

Foaming or fizzing

This usually happened when you pee faster than usual.
But it could indicate you have a high level of protein in your diet or a serious problem with your kidneys.

Cloudy or murky

If your urine looks cloudy or murky it could be because of a bacterial infection.

Blue or green

There is a rare genetic disease that can turn your urine blue or green.
But it's probably a food dye in something you've eaten or a medication.
