A mother was arrested on drunk-driving charges after she struck one
car and crashed into a utility pole while her six-year-old daughter was
in the back seat.
Police say Christine Cogill, 35, of Marshfield,
was involved in a car collision on Route 28 and Higgins Crowell Road in
Yarmouth.
Cogill crashed into a utility pole in front of Yarmouth House Restaurant, causing the car to catch fire.
Police
say an off-duty nurse was attending to Cogill’s daughter while Cogill
was still trapped inside the car. The nurse was passing by at the time
of the crash.
The child was treated at the scene and is in the custody of her father.
Cogill was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. There was no word on her condition.
Cogill
is facing drunk driving charges as well as child endangerment while
under the influence and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident
causing property damage.
She will be arraigned at Barnstable District Court.
