IT was a day of excellence for the twins, Miss Faith and Ruth
Egbunike-Agbakoba as they  celebrated their awards, twinship and
successes in academic life in far away Sao Paulo, Brazil, South America
recently. The celebration was sponsored by the Brazilian
government. Their celebration stemmed from the fact that they won the
first prize at the just concluded 15th World Congress Competition on
Health and Biomedical   Informatics.
The twins, who were born 26 years ago in the United Kingdom into the
family of their   London-based parents, Engr. Benjamin Oseloka Agbakoba
and Mrs. Mabel Agbakoba (nee Egbunike), indigenes of Onitsha in
Anambra State had started  their educational career from primary,
secondary and university levels on automatic scholarships from the UK
government.
They attended private boarding primary and secondary schools in
London  and later moved to a grammar school for their advanced ‘A’ level
studies, after which they enrolled into St. George’s Medical School,
University of London – England, where they obtained their first class
honours
degrees and and later did their master’s in health studies, all
under scholarship scheme of the British government.
They joined an American firm, CERNER CO-OPERATION for their
internships and later worked for the National Health Service, NHS,
hospitals where they garnered     experiences in London, England. The
miraculous aspect of them werethat they were born as premature babies
after 26 weeks in their mother’s womb and first twin (Faith) weighed
half a pound, while second twin (Ruth) weighed one pound, and they lived
in the incubator for six months and survived at the Lewisham Hospital,
London.
Thanks for representing Nigeria so well.
Would they have attained this success if they were brought up in Nigeria?
Change!!!
