Toddler Twin Left With Crippled Legs After Contracting Ultra-Rare Virus

A TWIN aged 18 months who had barely learned to walk has been robbed of the use of his legs by an ultra-rare virus.

The frantic parents of Riley Jones rushed him to hospital when he woke up suddenly crippled.
Dad Luke, 30, said: “The doctors told us he might not walk again. It is devastating.”

Luke and wife Hayley, 32, told how Riley can only sit and watch as twin Finley runs around at home in Caerphilly.


Credit controller Luke, who is fund-raising to get private physiotherapy for Riley, said: “He gets upset he can’t do the same.”

Just a handful of people a year are diagnosed with enterovirus D68, a respiratory illness which can cause paralysis.
